Some Halloween Fun!

Happy Monday!

I had my Cousin's girls (they are really mine she'd just borrowing them LOL) overnight this weekend! Of course we had to get crafty! I saw these paper mache skulls at our local Lens Mill and immediately saw some crafty potential!

I already had some Halloween paper but along with that I bought some fancy tissue paper and Halloween Napkins. The girls had anything in my craft room at their disposal! I made some homemade "Modge Podge" by mixing plain white glue with water in a ratio of 1:1, and off to the races they went designing their skulls! Both the girls chose to use parts of the Halloween napkins and I decided on tissue paper. Of course we all had to use these great black spiders I got at Michaels.

I love that we all had different ideas as to how we wanted to cover them but similar ideas about the "head bands" they would wear. After the girls finished these they moved on to to making some mixed media canvas's and cards! We had a blast and as always I love the time I get to spend with them! They are great kids, well behaved and a joy to be around!

Fixing Mistakes!

Can you say arggggg!

I hate when a mistake happens when you are just about finished colouring an image! I usually add "glimmer" as a last step when I am making a card, but for some reason today I decided to do it before I was finished! WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! I decided to finish up the sunglasses with my black Sakura gel pen and then while I got dressed it would have time to dry. I messed up on one and tried to fix it (left image) and while I did that my sleeve dragged across the other image (right image).

What a mess right!!!! So rather than throw out my hard work I decided to try to fix it!

Using a scrap piece of X-Press It Copic paper I  stamped just the part of the lady's head and coloured that in. I then fussy cut around her head and like paper piecing I glued it over my mistakes.

And………Voila you can hardly tell anything is different!
The day has been saved LOL!

So the next time you make a mistake, think about doing something similar to this, after all who want to throw out something they worked so hard on!

P.S. I'll post the card and supplies at a later date when I get it all finished!

Eat, Drink and Be Scary

Hello!

Question?: Why can you never trust spiders?
Answer: Because they post stuff on the web. (hee hee)

Today I am "posting on the web" my weekly blog post over at Art Impressions. I made this adorable Halloween card using the Be Scary Set (SKU 4521). I think she is super cute and it was so fun to colour her up with my Copic markers. I used some glossy accents on the spider eyes and Stickles on the pumpkin to add some fun elements to this card.

Copics Used:
 Face: E00, E11, R20, RV17
Spider body: W1, W3, W5, W7
Pumpkin: YR12, YR14, YR16
Shadow W0, W1

Birthday Wishes!

Hi Everyone!

Today I decided to play around with some stamps that I have from C.C. Designs. I decided to use the Tickled Pink Birthday Cherrie Stamp and a sentiment from the AmyR Be Happy Sentiments set. This image is absolutely adorable and I loved colouring her up with my copic markers!

  • I chose papers from the Dovecraft Tea party 8x8 paper pad collection and matched it with card stock from my stash.
  • next I stamped my image on Copic Xpress-it paper and then coloured in my image with Copic Sketch Markers
  • I cut my base layer (violet card stock) at 6 1/2 x 5", Middle layer (moss green) at 6 1/4 x 4 3/4" and the patterned paper layer at 6 1/8 x 4 5/8"
  • I cut a second patterned piece to use with the border punch at 2 x 4 3/4", and a green piece to layer that with at 2 1/8 x 4 3/4"
  • ink all the edges of all your papers using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Antique Linen
  • using the border punch I cut 2 strips of the border pattern to add to either side of the smaller patterned paper layer.
  • Glue all your paper layers together and attach to a pre-mad 6.5 x 5" card base
  • Adhere a piece of ribbon to the left hand side of your card. Add a bow ( I use Bow-Easy to make my bows)
  • Using foam squares pop up the cut out image and sentiment onto your card to add dimension
  • I then used glossy accents on the whites of the balloons and Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the green parts of the present, her collar and hair bands
