Having a blast!

We are having a blast at the cottage! I've had my cousin's girls since Sunday night and we came to visit my Mom & Dad ( great aunt & uncle) at the cottage on Tuesday! So far we've been fishing for tiny sunfish, did a 550 piece puzzle, took a craft class, painted bird houses, watched movies, coloured, went for walks, went out in the Zodiac and swam! That is the kids swam, lol it's too cold for me (62 degrees F) brrrrrrr! How kids can swim and stay in the water for over an hour at that temp is beyond me! I am having fun and so is Mom but I sure could use a nap lol! I'm not used to this!!

Each of the girls caught fish, boy they were huge!

Only ducks and crazy children are brave enough to swim in the frigid waters of Colpoy's Bay

They painted bird houses to stick on Aunt Becky's fence

We all made Christmas stars at Karen's Creations in Wiarton! What a nice lady Karen is and her store is awesome!

Last night we made waffle cones stuffed with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, banana chunks, caramel chunks and skor toffee bits. We wrapped them in tinfoil and because it was raining we used the BBQ to cook them…..YUMMY! I saw it on Pinterest, click here to go to the recipe. Now tonight is a campfire and toasted marshmallows! I don't want to see the scale when I get home!!

Oh did I mention we've only been here 2 days LOL……can u say busy?

Simple Design

Happy Sunday everyone! It's finally a nice day! I'm just sitting in the backyard by the pool composing this post…… Sunday bliss! So I have another card to show you. I tried to keep this one simple. By simple I mean basic shapes, one pattern of paper and not a lot of embellishments. I love the "girlfriends" series of stamps from Art Impressions! I got mine at The Paper Trail, they are so cute and funny.

  • To start I made a card base from a 12 x 12" piece of card stock at 6 3/4" x 4 3/4"
  • I cut my base coloured layer at 6 5/8' x 4 5/8'.
  • The patterned paper I used is from AC Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection. It's called Simple Romance and I cut that at 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".
  • I used 2 shades of pink card stock at 5 3/4"x 3 7/8" and 5 5/8" x 3 3/4"to layer behind my stamped image.
  • Using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped my image on Copic paper and coloured it in with my Copic sketch markers.
  • I stamped the sentiment for the outside of the card onto a piece of white card stock and then using the Fishtail Flags Layer Stax from MFT, I made a small banner.
  •  Taking Distress Ink in Vintage Photo I inked all the edges of my papers with the applicator tool.
  • Glue all the pieces together and attach to the card, popping up the sentiment with pop dots.
  • I used my black sakura gel pen to colour in the sunglasses.
  • Using gold and star dust Stickles I added glitter to each of the ladies.
  • For the inside of my card I used some of the leftover papers, Spellbinder Labels 18 dies and stamped a sentiment.

I just posted a video tour of my craft room on YouTube. I am always looking at other people's craft room videos. I'm always curious how other people set their rooms up and how they store things. I'm still learning the whole editing thing etc in iMovie so bare with me as I continue to try to improve my videos! Hope you enjoy it!

Sneak Peek!

Good morning!

It's that time again! As I mentioned before I make cards for my Husband's clients 3x a year, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. So I've started to work on the 70 Thanksgiving cards we are going to send out. Below is a sneak peek of my design. I pre-ordered paper from The Scrapping Bug, a local store where I live. It should arrive mid September, so I decided I would start on the Copic colouring and cutting all the die cuts out etc. So this is what I will be working on all day today as the weather is not the nicest today! A good day to work on craft projects. Stay tuned for more of this card design……

Swinging Bye To Say Hi!

I have had the stamp for a while and was dying to get it out and create a card with it. It was so much fun creating all the layers with my die cuts and I absolutely love the stamp! I coloured the stamped image once again with my Copic Sketch markers onto Copic paper and "fussy" cut out the image. Then came the fun part of designing the background. The "grass" paper is called "pretty please" from the Neapolitan Collection by Dear Lizzy. I used my Die-namics "snow drift" die from MFT to make the hills. I edged the grass hills with memento ink in the colour pear tart to make the hills stand out a bit. I cut out the flower border and then layered another cut out of the same die to create the different coloured flowers. Layering the grass over top of the flowers completed the bottom of the card. The cloud paper in the background is from My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad called "charm". I cut out a fence and tree from metal dies to complete the top half of the card. I glued everything onto a 6x6" card I made from white cardstock. Using some pop dots I adhered the image to hang from the tree, added a cute sentiment and presto another finished card!

Supplies Used:
White Cardstock
MME "Charm" 6x6 paper pad
"Pretty please" paper by Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection
Flower border die by C.C. Designs
Fresh cut grass die-namic by MFT
Tree die by Marianne Designs Creatable LR0257
Roberto Rascals "swingin" stamp from C.C. Dsigns
Snow Drift die-namics by MFT
Copic Sketch Markers
Copic Paper
Yellow stickles
Various green card stock from my stash
glue and pop dots

Guess what????….. I finally filmed a video of me making a "Book Card". I am just in the process of trying to edit it and then hopefully I can figure out how to upload it here and onto you tube. Wish me luck!
